What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 20S60 (Transport Canada recall no. 2020-486) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.5 L engine, there may be a problem with the programming of the powertrain control module. As a result, the engine could overheat.

An engine that overheats and causes engine damage could create the risk of a fire.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles built with a panoramic vista roof, the roof glass may not be properly attached. Over time, the glass can become loose and cause wind noise and water leaks. Eventually, it could separate from the vehicle completely. Note: This recall is an expansion of Ford recall 16S35 (Transport Canada recall nos. 2016-474 and 2021-776) and 20S22 (Transport Canada recall no. 2020-204).

Why it matters

A glass roof that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in Park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly.

Why it matters

Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission shifter cable bushing and install a protective service cap. Ford advises that you should apply the parking brake each time the vehicle is parked.

On certain vans, the pivot points for the side mirrors could rust. If this happens, the mirrors could become loose or fall down. The recall applies to vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador).

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the flanges on the rear axle shafts may not be flat. As a result, the wheel nuts could loosen and the wheel studs could break. If this happens, a wheel could come loose or separate from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects vehicles with single rear wheels, a 4.10:1 axle ratio and aluminum alloy wheels.

Why it matters

A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the rear axle shafts. The dealer will replace the rear axle shaft assembly, axle shaft mounting bolts, and rear wheel lug nuts, as necessary.
