What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the side reflex reflectors in the headlamp assemblies may not reflect enough light at some viewing angles. Additionally, the low beam reflector in the left headlamp may not reflect light correctly. As a result, the reflectors may not meet the requirements of Canadian regulations. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with halogen headlamps.

Why it matters

Reflex reflectors that do not reflect enough light may make the vehicle less visible to other road users. A low beam that is not reflected correctly could cause glare for oncoming drivers. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Subaru will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

What is wrong

Over time, the backup lamp switch could corrode and fail. If this happens, the backup lamps will not turn on when the transmission is shifted into reverse and the shift position will not display. Additionally, for vehicles equipped with a rearview camera, the camera image will not appear on the display in the instrument cluster.

Why it matters

Backup lamps that do not work properly could cause a person not to recognize that the vehicle is backing. A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. These issues could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Subaru will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect, and if necessary, replace the backup lamp switch.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the low-pressure fuel pump could fail. If this happens, then engine may run rough or may not start and the check engine light may turn on. This could also result in a sudden loss of engine power while driving.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the engine control module (ECM) may have been programmed incorrectly. As a result, the internal temperature of the ignition coils may increase. This could cause a short circuit and a blown fuse. This may result in a sudden loss of engine power with an inability to immediately restart. Note: This recall replaces WUQ-02 (Transport Canada recall 2019-526). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.

What the dealer will do

Subaru will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the ECM if necessary, and replace the ignition coils. On vehicles with ignition coil damage, if a certain trouble code (DTC) is stored, the front exhaust pipe will also be replaced.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve could fail. If you continue to operate the vehicle after this happens, pieces of the PCV valve may enter the engine and cause an engine failure.

Why it matters

A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Subaru will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the PCV valve. Additionally, the replaced PCV valve will be inspected. If the valve is found to have separated, the separator cover and oil pan will be removed. If the separated parts are not located, the engine short block assembly will be replaced.
