What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Mercedes-Benz dealer during recall 8297011 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-105) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, the 80 A fuse may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the fuse could overheat and fail. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power to the wheels. This could also cause the instrument cluster not to work.

A fuse and wiring that overheats can create the risk of a fire. A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don't display could also increase the risk of a crash.

On certain vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4Matic), the transmission wiring harness may not be routed correctly. As a result, water could enter the wiring harness connector and cause a short circuit. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-342.

A short circuit can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.
