What is wrong

On certain vehicles, there could be a problem with the connections inside the rearview camera. As a result, the rearview camera image may not display correctly or at all when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Note: For certain models, this recall also affects incomplete vehicles.

Why it matters

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What is wrong

Over time, a damper inside the driveshaft may move and cause a vibration. If you continue driving with this vibration, the driveshaft could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, the truck could move when the transmission is in Park and the parking brake is not used. Note: This recall only affects certain 4x4 models with a 176" wheelbase, and a 4.1 or 4.3 rear axle ratio.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could also create the risk of an injury or a crash.

Over time, the coating on the lens for the rearview camera could degrade. If this happens, the rearview camera image may appear foggy or cloudy. Note: This recall only affected vehicles equipped with 360-degree camera systems.

What is wrong

On certain trucks, the insulation under the truck may loosen and damage the driveshaft. If this happens, the driveshaft could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. A broken driveshaft could also contact the ground and cause a loss of control. Additionally, the truck could move when the transmission is in Park and the parking brake is not used. Note: This recall only affects certain SuperCab and Crew Cab models equipped with a gas engine and an aluminum driveshaft.

A loss of power to the wheels or a loss of control could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could also create the risk of an injury or a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to add new attachments for the underbody insulators. The dealer will also inspect the driveshaft for damage and repair it, as necessary.

What is wrong

On certain Super Duty models equipped with a SuperCrew cab, after a crash where a front seat belt pretensioner deploys, the carpet and/or carpet insulation could catch fire.

Why it matters

A fire that occurs after a crash could create an increased risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for repair. The dealer will apply foil tape to the carpet and carpet insulation, and modify the sound deadener on the back side of both driver and passenger side B-pillar trim panels as needed.

What is wrong

On certain Super Duty trucks, the electric tailgate latch could malfunction. This may cause the tailgate to unlatch on its own. If the tailgate opens while driving, cargo that is not secured could fall out of the truck bed and onto the road.

Why it matters

Cargo that falls from the truck bed could create a road hazard for others.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to modify the tailgate/frame wiring harnesses and will install a new tailgate handle release switch.

What is wrong

The connectors on the engine block heater cable may have been damaged when your truck was serviced for recall campaign 2018-718 (Ford #18S45). This could cause a short-circuit, which may result in overheated or melted wiring.

Stop use of your engine block heater immediately. Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to disable the engine block heater. What is wrong

On certain vehicles, door latch shielding may not be sufficient. As a result, water could enter into the side door latch and freeze, causing the latch mechanism to bind after opening. In addition, latch actuation cables may have been bent or kinked during installation, and could result in latch binding. A frozen door latch, or bent or kinked actuation cable may result in a door that will not open or will not close. If a latch does not fully engage the door striker, there is a potential for a door to open while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of injury.

Dealers will install water shields over the door latches and the door latch actuation cables will be inspected and repaired if needed.

What is wrong

Certain vehicles equipped with a front passenger side manual seat track may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 207 - Anchorage of Seats and CMVSS 210 – Seat Belt Anchorages. If the front passenger seat track does not have sufficient weld penetration between the seat belt anchor and the seat cushion frame, the front seat passenger may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

What is wrong

Certain vehicles equipped with rear inflatable seat belts may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 210 – Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages. The left rear inflatable seat belt buckle may have been assembled with a rivet that was improperly staked. As a result, the left rear seat belt assembly could separate from its mounting bracket during a crash, which could increase the risk of injury and would fail to meet the anchorage strength requirements of the standard.

Dealers will inspect the left rear seat belt buckle rivet, and replace the seat belt buckle assembly if necessary.

What is wrong

Certain decorative chrome door handle covers, sold as aftermarket accessories through Ford dealers, may affect compliance to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 206 – Door Lock and Door Retention Components. These accessories may cause the door handles to fail to conform to the inertial load requirements of the standard. A door handle fitted with a chrome cover could unlatch due to inertial loads during a side impact crash if the door were unlocked, which would increase the risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Covers will be removed from vehicles and owners will be reimbursed for parts and labour.

What is wrong

Certain vehicles may be missing a support bracket where the front fuel tank strap attaches to the frame. Through continued use, the lack of reinforcement could lead to the fuel tank strap separating from the frame. If this occurs, the fuel tank could move out of position, potentially contacting the ground and causing a fuel leak. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury.

Dealers will install reinforcement brackets as necessary.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine and a middle position fuel tank, there could be inadequate adhesion between the protective shield and the fuel conditioning module. This could allow for the the shield to be dislodged by road debris or water spray, which could force open the drain valve on the module. If the drain valve were to be forced open, this could result in substantial fuel leak. It could also allow for air ingress into the fuel system, which may cause the engine to stumble. A substantial fuel leak on a road surface could increase the risk of a crash, and a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or property damage.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the adhesive mounted protective shield on the fuel conditioning module with a bolt-on metallic protective shield.
