Canadian regulations require that certain safety information is provided on the brake fluid reservoir cover. On these motorcycles, that information may be missing or difficult to read. This could lead to improper maintenance of the brake system, like using the wrong type of brake fluid.

What the dealer will do

BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the brake fluid reservoir cover.

What is wrong

On certain motorcycles, the stop lamp will flash during emergency braking. Canadian regulations require the stop lamp to stay on constantly while braking.

Why it matters

A flashing stop lamp could cause confusion for other drivers. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to update the stop lamp software, so that the stop lamp does not flash during emergency braking.
