Transport Canada issued 12 vehicle recalls in the week of 7 September 2026, covering about 178,300 vehicles in Canada. The systems involved: steering, electrical, accessories, fuel system, high voltage, seats and restraints.

Good news: If one of these covers your vehicle, the repair is almost certainly free.

Steering

Transport Canada recall 2026439

On certain vehicles, one of the bolts that attaches the steering rack to the subframe could corrode and break. If this happens, the steering rack housing could break and cause a loss of steering control.

A loss of steering control could create a risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the right steering rack mounting bolt.

Electrical

Transport Canada recall 2026436

On certain motorhomes, the circuit board(s) for the rooftop ventilation fans may not have been manufactured correctly and could overheat. Note: This recall only affects certain motorhomes equipped with MaxxAir rooftop ventilation fans.

A circuit board that overheats could create the risk of a fire.

What the dealer will do: Renegade RV will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorhome to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the ventilation fan circuit board(s).

On one RV trailer, the propane hose for the outdoor cooktop may not have been secured correctly. As a result, the cooktop can be stowed away with the propane hose still attached, and the burner(s) turned on.

An outdoor cooktop that is stowed away with the burner turned on could create a fire risk.

What the dealer will do: Forest River will notify the owner by mail and advise them to take their RV trailer to a dealership to secure the propane line.

Electrical

Transport Canada recall 2026434

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the body control module (BCM) to reset while driving. As a result, the ignition could switch off and cause a loss of power to the wheels. It could also cause a loss of certain controls, warning lights, malfunction tell-tales and rearview camera system.

A loss of power to the wheels, exterior lights that don't work, and/or controls, warnings and tell-tales that don't display could increase the risk of a crash. A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up, which could also increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the BCM software.

Transport Canada recall 2026433

On certain vehicles, the pivot bolt(s) securing the roof crossbars may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the crossbar(s) could detach from the vehicle. Note: This recall also affects certain 2023-2026 Wagoneer L models and Grand Wagoneer L models.

A crossbar that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and secure the roof crossbar(s), as necessary.

Fuel System

Transport Canada recall 2026432

On certain trucks, the fuel tank strap(s) may not have been secured properly. As a result, the tank could fall and fuel could leak. If this happens, the engine could stall suddenly.

A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Additionally, a fuel tank that separates from the truck could create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel tank strap(s).

High Voltage

9 September 2026

Transport Canada recall 2026431

This recall is for certain vehicles that had a battery energy control module (BECM) replaced during service. On certain vehicles, the replacement battery energy control module may not have been programmed correctly. As a result, the state of charge could display incorrectly, so a person may not recognize the low state of charge, which could cause a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, this could lead to the high-voltage battery overheating after repeated fast charging.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A battery that overheats can create a fire risk.

What the dealer will do: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the battery energy control module software.

Seats And Restraints

Transport Canada recall 2026430

On certain vehicles, the wireless seat belt reminder system within the rear seat belt buckles may not work correctly. As a result, the rear seat belt status indicators in the instrument panel may incorrectly show that a seat belt is buckled when it's not.

A seat belt reminder that doesn't work correctly could create confusion. Not wearing a seat belt increases the risk of injury in a crash.

What the dealer will do: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear seat belts and replace the wireless rear seat belt buckle(s), as necessary.

Airbag

9 September 2026

Transport Canada recall 2026429

On certain vehicles, the passenger-side curtain airbag could become damaged when it inflates in a crash.

An airbag that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

What the dealer will do: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to repair the bracket for the passenger-side curtain airbag.

Brakes

9 September 2026

Transport Canada recall 2026428

On a small number of trucks, the recall repairs completed by an DTNA service facility during recalls FL958 and FL966 (Transport Canada recall nos. 2022-626 and 2023-051) may not be effective. As a result, another repair is required. On certain trucks, a software problem may not detect corrosion to the brake modulator valves. As a result, the brakes on one wheel could fully apply during automatic braking. If this happens, there could be a brake pull that can cause the truck to change direction. Note: This problem doesn't affect the service brakes.

A brake pull that causes the vehicle to change direction suddenly can increase the risk of crash.

What the dealer will do: Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect, and if necessary, replace the brake modulator valves. The service facility will also update the vehicle software.

Transport Canada recall 2026427

On certain vehicles, the seatback recliners for the second-row seats may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the seatback(s) may not lock in position and could move in a crash. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall No. 2026-101.

A seatback that moves could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

What the dealer will do: To reduce the safety risk, Toyota recommends not using the second-row seats to transport passengers until the recall repairs have been completed. Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the spring in the second-row seatback recliner assemblies.

Lights And Instruments

7 September 2026

Transport Canada recall 2026426

Under certain conditions, when using a USB or Bluetooth connection, the instrument cluster could reset, freeze, or go blank. As a result, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, warning lights and malfunction tell-tales. Additionally, during the cluster reset, the turn signals and hazard lights may not work.

Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don't display could increase the risk of a crash. Turn signals that don't work may cause a person not to recognize when the rider intends to turn or change lanes. Hazard lamps that don't work could make the vehicle less visible. These issues could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do: BRP will notify owners in writing and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the instrument cluster software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a BRP dealership.
