What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the bolts that attach the second-row seat belt buckles may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the seat belts could loosen or detach in a crash.

Why it matters

A seat belt that detaches in a crash could create an increased risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Volvo will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the second-row seat belt buckle attachment bolts.

What is wrong

On certain XC90 Excellence models, the rear seat control display may not work properly if the touch screen gets wet. This could cause the front passenger seat to move to the fully rearward position, even after you stop touching it. If the touch screen stays wet, you may not be able to move the seat forward again.

Why it matters

This could result in an injury for rear seat passengers.

What the dealer will do

Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the software for rear seat control display.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the coolant bleeder hose could crack over time. This could allow coolant to leak on to the exhaust system. This could also cause a build-up of coolant in the insulation for the catalytic converter. Note: This condition could cause a low coolant level warning or a high temperature warning to display on the dash.

Why it matters

Coolant that contacts a hot exhaust system or that builds up over time in insulation could create a fire risk for a vehicle that is stopped or parked.

What the dealer will do

Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the coolant bleeder hose with an improved one.

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seatbelt buckle stud may not have been punched correctly during manufacturing. This may cause a separation between the buckle and the seat belt bracket, which could result in the belt not adequately restraining the seat occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat belt buckle stud, and replace the seatbelt buckle as necessary.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the air conditioner drain hose may leak into the passenger compartment due to incorrect installation during the manufacturing process. Over time, an accumulation of moisture in the passenger cabin could affect the SRS system (airbags), engine management systems and/or other systems. This could increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash and/or increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Dealers will inspect the air conditioning drain hose to ensure correct installation and if necessary replace the drain hose.

What is wrong

Certain vehicles equipped with power-operated sunroof system may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 118 - Power-Operated Window, Partition and Roof Panel Systems. The switch could be more susceptible to inadvertent actuation, which could result in unintended auto-closure of the roof panel, contrary to the requirements of the standard and increase the risk of injury.

Dealers will upgrade vehicle software that disables the auto-close function while depressing the sunroof switch.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with seven seats, the Inflatable Curtain (IC) air bag may not deploy as intended for third row passengers. In the event of a collision that warrants a deployment of the Inflatable Curtain, the interior trim panel on the D-pillar(s) could obstruct the IC from inflating fully. If this were to occur, it could increase the risk of injury to third row seat occupant(s) in certain types of crashes.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will modify the D-Pillar interior panels to allow full inflation of the inflatable curtain air bag.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) wire harness in the front seats may have been incorrectly assembled. During seat assembly, the SRS harness may have been incorrectly routed, which may damage the wire insulation. This would illuminate the SRS warning light and a message would be displayed on the Driver Information Module (DIM), which could affect the Front Seat Side Impact Airbag restraint system function, potentially disabling the front seat side impact airbag(s). This could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants in a crash where a side impact airbag deployment is warranted.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the wire insulation, and if needed, add a protective sleeve.
