Why it matters

Transport Canada recall 2019030 · manufacturer campaign R89910

21 January 2019

Transport Canada lists: XC 60 2018–2019

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with a power operated tailgate, the tailgate lifting arms could freeze and fail. This could create noise and cause the tailgate to stop working. It could also cause the tailgate lifting arms to separate.

Why it matters

If the tailgate arms separate, a spring may be projected rearward and create a risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be advised to take their vehicle to a dealer for replacement of the tailgate lifting arms.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the Telematics and Driver Support Systems may not function as designed due to a software error. In the event of a crash, this could mean that the Emergency Assist system would not alert Volvo and provide the GPS coordinates of the vehicle. This could create a risk of no response from emergency services.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will update vehicle software.
