Structure

Transport Canada recall 2026034 · manufacturer campaign SRC RL6

28 January 2026

Transport Canada lists: Prius 2023–2026

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, water could leak into the rear door handle(s) and cause the door opener switch(es) to short circuit. If this happens, the rear door(s) could open unexpectedly while driving. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-228. Vehicles repaired under that recall also require this repair.

Why it matters

A door that opens while driving could create a risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

To reduce the safety risk, Toyota recommends that you enable the automatic door locking function through the vehicle's head unit. Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to modify the rear door switch circuits.

What is wrong

Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to freeze or not to display. If this happens, the rearview image may not display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a panoramic view monitor system.

Why it matters

A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

The company will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the parking assist ECU software.
