Brakes

Transport Canada recall 2022237 · manufacturer campaign 4290005 & 4290006

6 May 2022

Transport Canada lists: GL 2006–2013 · ML 2006–2013 · R 2006–2013

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, corrosion could cause the brake booster to fail. If this happens, there may be an increase in brake pedal effort and increase the distance needed to stop the vehicle. In rare cases of severe corrosion, the brake booster could separate completely and cause a loss of brakes.

Why it matters

A loss of brakes can increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Mercedes-Benz advises you to stop driving your vehicle immediately. The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to contact a local Mercedes-Benz dealership to arrange for towing and an inspection. The dealer will remove the rubber brake booster sleeve and determine whether the vehicle is safe to drive or if it can't be driven and a parts replacement is necessary. Also, depending on the results of the inspection, you may need to return within two years for a re-inspection.

2 June 2008

Transport Canada lists: GL 2006–2008 · ML 2006–2008

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, trailer hitches, whether installed during vehicle assembly, or sold as an over-the-counter accessory and installed by the dealer, may contain inadequate welds and, as a result, could eventually fail. This could allow the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle, causing property damage, personal injury or death.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will repair weld the hitch assembly.

Steering

Transport Canada recall 2005152

18 May 2005

Transport Canada lists: ML 2006

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a hose clamp that secures the power steering fluid cooler hose may not provide sufficient clamping force, which could allow the hose to disconnect from the cooler. The resulting loss of power steering fluid could damage the power steering pump and may diminish the steering power assist function, which could lead to a crash.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the power steering hose clamp.
