What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the air conditioning drain hose might be installed incorrectly. This could allow water to leak inside the vehicle. If this happens, electrical components could short circuit. This could affect different parts, such as the door locks and emergency call (eCall) system. It could also result in reduced engine power or cause the vehicle not to start. Note: If this issue is present in your vehicle, you might notice wet carpets in the driver or passenger footwell and fogged windows. This is an expansion of Transport Canada Recall 2021-247.

Why it matters

A loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. If the doors cannot be unlocked in an emergency situation, it may be difficult to exit the vehicle.

What the dealer will do

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect how the air conditioning hose is installed and correct it, if necessary. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should not use the air conditioning until the vehicle is inspected.

A seat backrest that isn't locked could move in a crash and increase the risk of injury.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, if the hazard lights are switched on while the ignition is off, the lights on some interior switches may not work. When the ignition and lights are turned on, the lights on the switches may stay off. Canadian regulations require certain switches to light up when the ignition is on and the lights are switched on. Note: If the hazard lights are switched off, then the ignition is cycled to off - and back on again - the switch lights should work properly.

Why it matters

While there is a low risk to safety, lighting of important switches is required by Canadian regulations.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the air conditioning drain hoses may not be installed correctly. This could allow condensation water from the air conditioner to enter the passenger compartment. If this happens, nearby electrical components could corrode and/or short circuit. This could cause some electrical systems not to work properly. This includes: an inability to unlock or start the vehicle, the automatic emergency call (eCall) system may not be available, and the engine "limp home mode" could be activated.

A short circuit could create the risk of a fire. The failure of other electrical components could increase the risk of injury or a crash.
