Fuel System

Transport Canada recall 2022741 · manufacturer campaign 6490011

22 December 2022

Transport Canada lists: Gle 2012–2019 · ML 2012–2019

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, water could leak into the rear of the vehicle and build up in the spare tire wheel well. If this happens, the fuel pump control unit could short circuit and cause the engine to stall. Note: This problem could cause a check engine light to turn on, a damp carpet in the cargo area and/or the sound of water moving in the spare wheel well while driving.

Why it matters

A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect for water leaks and install a drain plug in the spare wheel well. The fuel pump control unit will be replaced, if necessary. To reduce the safety risk, you should regularly check for moisture in the cargo area and spare wheel well.

Transport Canada lists: C 2014–2020 · Cla 2014–2020 · Gla 2014–2020 · GLC 2014–2020 · and 1 more

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the plastic panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been attached correctly during a prior service repair. Over time, the panel could loosen and separate from the vehicle.

Why it matters

A panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the front roof panel.

Transport Canada recall 2018724

20 December 2018

Transport Canada lists: C 2011–2017 · CLS 2011–2017 · E 2011–2017 · GLC 2011–2017 · and 4 more

What is wrong

On certain vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador), the bolts that attach the electric power steering assist motor to the steering gear housing may corrode and break. This could cause a loss of power steering assist. The resulting increase in steering effort could create the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the mounting bolts and apply a corrosion protection coating to the gear housing and bolts. If the bolts bolt cannot be removed, a replacement steering gear will be installed.

Transport Canada recall 2018217

27 April 2018

Transport Canada lists: GL 2012–2017 · Gle 2012–2017 · GLS 2012–2017 · ML 2012–2017

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with the Active Curve System (ACS), the oil in the ACS’s reservoir could start foaming under certain dynamic driving situations in combination with an oil level below minimum. The oil foam could leak out of the oil reservoir through the vent holes in the sealing cap and spray onto hot surface components of the exhaust system. This could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the ACS reservoir for proper oil level and replace the sealing cap with an updated part.
