What is wrong

On certain cars, the occupant classification system (OCS) may not work properly. This could cause the airbag system not to turn off the airbag when an infant or child is seated in the passenger seat. Note: Cars that had repairs completed under Jaguar recall J047 (Transport Canada recall 2014-515) require a second inspection for this recall.

Why it matters

In a crash, an airbag that deploys in front of an infant or child increases the risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their car to a dealer to inspect the passenger seat belt assembly. The seat belt wiring will be repaired as required. Note: Children should not be transported in passenger seat until this recall is completed.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system wiring could cause the system to fail to detect a child or small stature adult seated in the front passenger seating position, instead detecting an unoccupied seat and disabling the passenger airbag. The defect could also cause the system to fail to detect a child car seat installed in the passenger seat and not disable the passenger airbag. This could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will correct the wiring harness configuration.
