What is wrong

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function.

Why it matters

If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the passenger-front airbag inflator replaced. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

What is wrong

Note: This recall affects the following Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) that were sold through dealers as high-performance accessories: - Mopar Stage 1 high performance Powertrain Control Modules (PCM), part numbers P5160023 and P5160025 (campaign U82) - Mopar high performance Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) included in the Demon Crate, part number 68412287AA (campaign U83) On certain vehicles, an electronic fault may create a situation where the cruise control cannot be deactivated. If this occurs and the driver does not apply the brakes or shift the transmission to neutral, the vehicle could maintain speed or accelerate without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the PCM software and perform an update as necessary. Note: In the interim, owners are advised not to use the cruise control until the vehicle is repaired. This is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, as these aftermarket products were not regulated by the Act.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the part number on the alternator, and will replace the alternator as necessary. Note: Only specific engine and alternator combinations are affected by this campaign.

What is wrong

On certain all-wheel drive vehicles, the front propshaft bolts may be loose. This could result in the front propshaft disconnecting from the vehicle, which would lead to loss of motive power while driving and could also damage powertrain and/or underbody components and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace all eight front propshaft bolts.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with a 220 amp alternator, frequent load cycling at the rated amperage capacity and particularly in hot ambient conditions could cause the alternator to develop a short, increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire. If a short develops in the alternator while the vehicle is being driven, it could also result in the engine stalling, causing a loss of motive power and increasing the risk of a crash. Both situations could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the gear shift position indicators and warnings may not be sufficient to deter drivers from exiting the vehicle when the transmission is inadvertently left in a gear other than “Park”. If this occurs and the driver exits the vehicle with the engine running and the parking brake has not been set, unintended vehicle movement can result, increasing the risk of injury and/or a crash.

What is wrong

Certain vehicles equipped with an original equipment spare tire, the body-side sill assemblies may deform during tire jack use if wheel chocks are not used as instructed in the Owner’s Manual. This could cause the vehicle to become unstable and cause the jack to fail, which could result in injury to the operator.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will provide wheel chocks to vehicle owners. The wheel chocks will be installed with the vehicle’s spare tire in such a manner that they must be removed before the spare tire is removed from its stowed location.

On certain vehicles, the software in Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module may contain side impact calibrations that are overly sensitive. This could result in unintended deployment of the Side Airbag Inflatable Curtain (SABIC), seat airbag, and/or seatbelt pre-tensioner during certain driving conditions, which could startle the driver and result in a vehicle crash causing injury and/or property damage.
