On certain vehicles, the steel wheel(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the wheel(s) could crack and separate, causing a loss of control. Note: This recall affects vehicles equipped with steel wheels and/or a steel spare tire wheel.

A loss of control could create the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could create a road hazard for others.

High Voltage

What is wrong

On a small number of trucks, a component inside the high-voltage battery may not be properly secured. As a result, the component could move and damage the high-voltage battery.

What is wrong

This recall is for certain transfer case assemblies installed during production on certain new vehicles or sold as a replacement part. On a small number of trucks, the transfer case assembly may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the transfer case could fail and cause the front and/or rear wheels to lock up while driving. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). This recall affects transfer case part number 87842227.

Why it matters

Front and/or rear wheels that lock suddenly could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

To reduce the safety risk, General Motors advises you not to drive your truck until the recall repairs have been completed. General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a dealership to arrange for an inspection and, if necessary, a transfer case assembly replacement.

What is wrong

On certain trucks, a software problem could cause the fuel system to stop transferring fuel from the secondary fuel tank to the primary fuel tank. Additionally, the fuel gauge may indicate an incorrect combined fuel level. If this happens, you may not be aware of the low fuel level and the engine could stall. Note: This recall only affects certain 3500 HD models equipped with a gasoline engine and dual fuel tanks.

A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

General Motors will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the engine control module software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a GM dealership.
