What is wrong

On certain motorcycles, the recall repairs completed by a BMW Motorrad dealer during Transport Canada recall no. 2024-144 may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain motorcycles, the starter relay may not have been sealed properly. As a result, moisture could enter the relay and cause it to overheat and melt. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-144.

Why it matters

A starter relay that overheats and melts could create the risk of a fire.

What the dealer will do

BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail to take your motorcycle to a dealership to replace the starter relay with an updated part.

What is wrong

On certain motorcycles, the recall repairs completed by a BMW Motorrad dealer during recall 71 02 24RC (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-185) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required. This recall is for certain motorcycles equipped with a BMW Motorrad accessory side case. The latch for the side case lid may not be properly secured, even if it looks like it is. As a result, the lid could open and detach from the motorcycle while riding. Note: These parts may have been installed on new motorcycles or sold as an accessory part through BMW dealerships. This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-185

A side case lid that detaches from the motorcycle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

BMW will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

What is wrong

This recall is for certain motorcycles equipped with a BMW Motorrad accessory side case. The latch for the side case lid may not be properly secured, even if it looks like it is. As a result, the lid could open and detach from the motorcycle while riding. Note: These parts may have been installed on new motorcycles or sold as an accessory part through BMW dealerships.

A side case lid that detaches from the motorcycle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to repair the locking mechanism and hinges, if it is equipped with a side case.
