Transport Canada’s own wording is that a manufacturer “will almost always make these repairs free of charge”, so being asked to pay for recall work is unusual and worth questioning. What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the transmission is shifted into reverse.

Why it matters

A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the SYNC software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the SYNC display screen. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2023-477. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.

Why it matters

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the rearview camera, and modify the camera wire retention as necessary. Some Transit models will also require a software update.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 22S65 (Transport Canada recall no. 2022-596) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the controls for the ventilation control system (HVAC) not to work. As a result, you may not be able to defog or defrost the windshield or windows. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 12" display screen, SYNC 4 and electronic automatic temperature controls.

Why it matters

A windshield that cannot be defogged or defrosted can reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the wrong rear axle shaft bolts may have been installed by a Ford dealer during recall 24S05 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-083). As a result, the bolts could loosen and cause a rear wheel to lock up or to separate from the vehicle. This could also cause a loss of power to the wheels or the vehicle to move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't applied.

Why it matters

A rear wheel that locks up suddenly or a wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could create a hazard for others. Additionally, a loss of power to the wheels or a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury and/or a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear axle shaft bolts. The dealer will also inspect and fill the differential fluid, as necessary.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the rear axle was not properly filled with oil. As a result, the tail bearings could seize, and the pinion stem could break. If this happens, the driveshaft could separate from the rear axle and cause a loss of power to the wheels. This could also cause the vehicle to move when the transmission is in Park, if the parking brake is not used. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 9.75" rear axle and a gasoline engine.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to have the rear axle inspected. It will be repaired and/or parts will be replaced, as necessary.

Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles that had an upfitter auxiliary wire harness installed by a vehicle upfitter or modifier.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the fuel tank vent valve may not have been properly welded to the fuel tank. As a result, the vent valve could separate from the tank in a crash and create a fuel leak. Note: This recall only affects gasoline-powered vehicles equipped with a 95 L fuel tank.

A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.
