What is wrong

On certain trucks, the fasteners for the steering gearbox may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the fasteners could loosen and cause a loss of steering control.

Why it matters

A loss of steering control could create a risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Mack will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace and tighten the steering gearbox fasteners. Any damaged parts will be replaced.

What is wrong

On certain trucks, a software problem could allow the engine to be started with the transmission in the drive or reverse gear. If this happens, the truck could move suddenly when it is started.

Why it matters

Sudden and unexpected movement of the truck could increase the risk of an injury or a crash.

What the dealer will do

To reduce the safety risk, Mack recommends you ensure the transmission is in the neutral gear before starting the engine until the recall repairs have been completed. Mack will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the ECU software.

What is wrong

On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash.

Mack will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reprogram the ECU software.
